Orange Broadband - new Terms of Use
Posted by Victor Delta on December 19th, 2007

I suspect, like many others, I've received an email today from Orange
Broadband saying that they are introducing new Terms of Use with effect from
19 Jan 2008. (They also seem to be introducing some new tech support numbers
at 50ppm.)

The new Terms of Use go on for pages. Has anyone sussed out yet what the key
changes are please?

now would be a good time to leave, as they have changed T+C its a new
contract, which you do not have to accept, so you can leave without penalty.

Hello,

We're updating your Broadband Terms of Use. To find out more about the new
terms just click here http://www.orange.co.uk/terms/5506.htm. You'll still
be able to view the old terms up until 19th January 2008, which is when the
new terms become effective.

To accept these terms you don't have to do anything, just carry on using
broadband as normal.

New Customer Support phone numbers
We're also changing some of our Customer Support phone numbers. If you click
here http://www.orange.co.uk/contact/internet/ you can see a full list of

I think they are enforcing what has been trailed for a while. I believe
people used to download their ways out of their contracts and get
automatic cancellation - not any more.

I'm on the Home Starter package (I think) - up to 8MB, 2GB monthly limit and
free with mobile contracts >£30 pm.

To be honest, although everyone is very rude about Orange - and probably
with some justification - my service has been pretty good, and at £0 pm I
can hardly complain anyway. Guess I have just been at the lucky end of the
80/20 law (so far)!

Well I've been with them for about a year. When I signed up, there was
a list of 100 countries that you could call for free.

A few months ago that changed to just 30 countries but my contract
remained the same.

My family is in Peru, and the new revamped T&C means that my 100 list
is shortened to 30, and Peru is no longer a part of it. So I called
them today to confirm this and said that I was leaving. They tried to
lure me by offering me 6 months free on the new contract. I said no.

You are right, Orange have been OK and I have been lucky enough to be
getting constant download speed of just under 7MB. However, it's time
to move on.
