OT: BNP man to be shunned in London assembly
Posted by St Georges Day April 23rd on May 4th, 2008

The British National Party's sole member of the London Assembly will
become a "pariah" as the major parties agree to shun him. As he
launched into a victory speech at City Hall early yesterday, other
politicians left the stage in protest.

Good. And they say politicians have no integrity. Most of them, it seems,
do.

Let's hope so.

Although I've no sympathies with the BNP I presume this candidate was
elected in a democratic vote and so the electorate who chose him are
effectively being shunned.

Ah, but most of who voted BNP would be white, of no consequence in New
Labour's Britain.

sounding much like they were saying:

He did, but not by a first-past-the-post majority of a constituency. He
got a proportional-vote "top-up" seat (one of nine, on top of 14
constituencies for 23 assembly members). 130,000 votes across the city -
5% of votes cast.

saying:

It's a novel concept - each person's vote counting equally, regardless of
the colour of their skin. You might get used to it one day.

I take it you support the mugabi approach to politics then.

No matter what the guys politics is , he was democratically elected and
as such the other candidates should respect this , if they cant then
they have no place in politics .

Politicians are very fickle , if at the next general election the BNP
managed to gain a foothold and ended up with 20 or so seats the major
politicall parties would soon be adopting thier policies

If you don't like a democratically elected candidate you ignore him.
Perhaps he can find some rights under the Human Rights act and sue!

And incidentally, if you look at their manifesto, the BNP is an extreme LEFT
wing party with their views on nationalisation and workers rights, hardly
right wing objectives.
But as far as I'm concerned Hitler and Stalin were equally evil, so perhaps
it doesn't matter

Incorrect. The yahoo was already a pariah, just by being a BNP scumbag.

Good for them.

Someone doesn't like freedom of expression, eh? Hint: racist scumbags are
free to yap... and sane people are free to not listen to them. I would not do
anything to prevent BNP scumbags from being elected; to do so would deny the
rights of the idiot scumbags who voted for them, and the rights of the BNP
scumbags themselves to stand for election, and a whole lot of other things. I
don't want to do that, even if they are racist maggots. However, there is
absolutely nothing which says that I must associate in any way whatsoever
with the likes of them. And I won't. And I'll support the rights of those who
don't what to associate with t them. By all means the others should make it
abundantly clear exactly how much co-operation BP racist maggots can expect:
zero. It appears that they have done exactly that. This is a Good Thing. If
you, or anyone else, doesn't like it, that is not my problem. You are free to
walk away, just as I am. Of course, if you walk away, you serve _my_ purpose:
removing your noxious presence from my vicinity. If _I_ walk away, I serve my
purpose: removing your noxious presence from my vicinity. Heads I win, tails
you lose... but then BNP scumbags are, by definition, losers.

And, btw, hold onto a <plonk>, there's a good lad.

I really don't know a great deal about the BNP. Are they racist, or do they
just have a more rigid stance on immigration? What among their policies
would be considered to be racist and/or fascist?

Somewhere between racists and fantastists if you read their policy from the
website. The one who came canvassing us up in Lancs for the 2005 elections
was probably racist. We invited him in for our own amusement/disgust. He
appeared to think using words like "all those darkies" and "bloody pakis"
acceptable...

polices here . I had to read it just to make my own mind up.

This seems to have landed in awful lot of unrelated groups.

This **** has won the right to sit in the London Assembly, elected by a
small minority of bigots.

While he can sit in the assembly, there is nothing that means the other
members have to sit there and listen while he airs his prejudices.
