OT: Cheap Wireless Router & Wireless Adapter/Card

Any ideas where to go for a cheap Wireless Router & Adapter/Card that is
easy to use and reliable?

A friend wants to join Wanadoo. Just not overly sure whether to buy the £80
wireless package. Is it any good? I think I recall someone mentioning that
the router will only work with Wanadoo?

Thanx.

Well, I know its possible with standard modems. Tiny/Time pull the same
stunt with SupraNet and even a reinstall of the machine will not get the
modem reliably working. You can get around it with generic drivers when
reformat & reinstall of the machine, but otherwise, you can only go
SupraNet.

I don't know if this is the same with Wanadoo.

No, just one desktop, but its far away from the phone line, so wireless is a
good thing.

Any particular recommendations from Ebuyer? They sell a lot of stuff.

Thanx.

That's a good price; I don't think I could do a router and PCMCIA card for
less than that.

PCMCIA Card is not necessarily the best option for mainly home use. I can't
get a good signal on my desk, so I switched to Orinoco USB adapter at the
end of 1.2m cable placed on shelf 5' high up. Moving it just half inch can
make a difference, placing a card covered with silver foil behind it makes a
lot of difference. You can't do that with PC Card...

That would be £94.15 to most of us I guess though I couldn't confirm as the
site does not work for me. Tells me cookies are turned off for some reason.

It's a few quid cheaper from Ebuyer or broadbandstuff.co.uk and cheaper
still from simply at under £87 delivered.
