- OT: Internet Access Problems With Novatech Wireless G PCI Cards
- Posted by Mo Saycool on March 19th, 2005
Apologies for the OT posting, but this group is the closest match for my
query.
I am using a DrayTek Vigor 2600We wireless router / modem
(http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/index.html). Until recently, I was using
two USB wireless B client devices from D-Link
(ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/wireless/dwl-120/) to connect my two PCs to the
router, but I have recently bought some wireless G PCI cards from Novatech
(https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/...ml?NOV-54GPCI), which I
installed this morning. I have two PCs on my network and I am running WinXP
home edition on both.
The new cards are pretty much up and running. The router can see them and it
is allocating IP addresses OK. I can also print and exchange files between
the two PCs as before. However, I cannot download files from the internet
and some web pages need to be refreshed several times before the page
appears. I have not changed any of the router settings or the WinXP
networking set-up. The only change I have made to the set-up is put the
drivers in and install the new cards. If I plug the USB cards back in, then
the problem is resolved.
Is there anything I can try to improve the performance and resolve the
download problem?? I am going mad having tried various things all morning
with no success.

Sums up your ignorance more like !
Novatech don't make anything AIUI, although they do assemble bought in
components into complete PC's etc., there 'own brand' will be a
commercially component part - which other suppliers could well be
supplying as well.
In the context, 'Novatech' is irrelevant to the problem.

its cheap unbranded junk that is not supported like main stream components..
being i live in portsmouth up until a few years ago use to be worth using.
useless customer service and cheap components have made me steer clear of
the place even since.

Sounds like you have a grudge against the company, your argument
doesn't stack up as the same component's are available via other
suppliers.
