- OT: Saving Google threads as TXT?
- Posted by Terry Pinnell on January 27th, 2005
I had a long thread up on my PC screen as a result of a Google Groups
search. Decided I'd copy it to my Pocket PC and read it elsewhere. I
was surprised to find after using the familiar File>Save As (with TXT
chosen as the file type), that I had a blank file. Just in case this
was down to Firefox (to which I changed 6 days ago), I fired up MSIE6
and tried the same page there. Almost the same result, except that I
had a single line referring to the google thread.
What's the reason for this please? Are some 'types' of page immune to
a File Save?
(I then used clipboard to achieve desired effect.)

Thanks, Simon, that makes sense. And your method works fine!
It seems that only whole *threads* use frames then, as the first
individual post I tried saved OK with no special measures. Only after
selecting 'View Complete Thread' did I have to use your neat Frame
tip.
