Pipex 1Mb Service
Posted by zleon on September 6th, 2003

Believe it is quite reasonably priced. Can anyone tell me if there is a fee
for upgrading from the 512k service from pipex?
I am with Zen, but appear to have intermittent trouble with connection on
their 512k service, plus they are charging nearly £28 for 512k service (
compared to £29 for 1Mb for pipex) and my intention to upgrade to Zen 1Mb
service is somewhat thwarted by their £42 charge!!
Pipex is offering a totally free migration service with no apparent tie in
period beyond a month!! So, if upgrading from pipex 512 to 1Mb is
free.........it would make money-sense to migrate then upgrade? No?
Yes...methinks

Thanks for your info

I take it that pipex is charging £35 + vat for regrading(upgrading). Is this
then a standard fee for all ISP regrading?

It's the fee that BT Wholesale charge ISPs. ISPs are free to make a
profit on it or subsidise it as they please - just as they are with
almost everything else.

Its what BT are charging the ISP's for regrading - what the ISP charges you
is up to them.

FS don't do migrations, do they? So your only option may be a cease and
reprovide (but PIPEX do free activation, iirc).
