- Pipex - Additional Dial Up for Existing ADSL Subscribers

This service is advertised on the Pipex website for an additional £6 - but
it says calls are at local rate.
Am I missing something?
I was hoping to get a roaming dial so I could use internet whilst at
friends/family and I thought an additional £6 per month with free calls
would be ideal - until I read the smallprint.
I'll ring the salesdesk tomorrow, however in the meantime - any comments, or
additional recommendations of a cheap 24/7 dialup. Have looked at Fast4Net
at £8.99 but it seems you get what you pay for from the comments.

Thatıs just the standard BT Surftime charge so you're getting it fort free
from Pipex effectively.
The Anytime tariff gives you no call charges and thatıs about £12 wholesale

Not quite sure what you mean. I'm currently on Option 1 with BT. Anytime is
Option 3 but that is an extra £14.
I would also assume that this is linked to my number at home which has ADSL,
but I need a roaming system where I can use someone elses BT line with no
guarantees of what package they have from BT.
Explain further please.

AFAIK, only BT sell the unmetered Anytime package using an 0800 number dial
up, which you can access from any BT line. Lots sell unmetered, but they
insist you say which line the call will come from - no roaming.
Freeserve for example allow pretty much unrestricted use but only from one
pre-specified number .
The other thing to remember that very few hotels are on BT these days ! So
an 0808 Internet number is chargeable.
I used to do a lot of travelling and only found one useful dial up - BT when
they were unrestricted and only at a small number of locations which didnıt
charge.
