Cannot get to ANY of the pipex network, even through dialip. At least it's

The usual one shows nothing -however, I found a link which said that
mail servers are down, due to an "unsuccessful" spam attack - should
be fine for this afternoon, they say.
Could you post this to the adsl board please - I am not a member, and
cannot join as they need to email me a password :-)
cheers

With the most complex and un-navigable site, no service status line, and
technical support that only runs office hours, I'm starting to regret the
move to Pipex...

Report: Failure of a major network component has resulted in a loss of
service for PIPEX Xtreme ADSL customers (both on ADSL and 0845) and for
DialTime customers.
Symptoms: Connection to the network and many servers is not currently
possible.
Actions: An engineering team are working on the problem as a matter of the
highest possible priority, but it is likely that service will not be
restored until mid-afternoon Sunday at the earliest.
We sincerely apologise for this interruption to service

Coincidence? Never. YOU caused it by switching the power back on.
You must have heard of the butterfly effect?

The "Butterfly Effect" is often ascribed to Lorenz. In a paper in 1963
given to the New York Academy of Sciences he remarks:
One meteorologist remarked that if the theory were correct, one flap

weather forever.
By the time of his talk at the December 1972 meeting of the American
Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C. the sea

talk was* :
Predictability: Does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil set off
a Tornado in Texas?

As a recent newcomer to Pipex I can only assume a lot of people keep
switching the power back on. What happened to the days when they had
a good reputation?

You've had the long (and correct) answer. The short one is that a
butterfly in Malaysia flaps its wings setting off air currents that
eventually lead to a storm in Chicago.
