getting the speed from the router, an Internet/Firefox download progress
display or are you looking at the network icon in the bottom right hand
corner of your screen for the speed?

Presumably you have rebooted the router to re-connect at a higher speed?
Try a factory reset. Weird how these things ar sometimes.

Your icon is telling you the link speed between PC and router. you need
to check the speed between router and exchange / internet.
1) Check the router control page, browse at 192.168.1.1 and read the
'online status' page results.
2) Do the ADSLguide speed test and compare to 1

If anything in the receive side is not about 1Mb/s and is nearer 512kb/s
you may have a problem.
