Having loads and loads of problems with NTL BB, have been with them over 12
months so looking around.

Have found PlusNet £19 PCM 512K, but have noticed the below ....
Software programs not supported include, but are not limited to, KaZaA,
Gnutella, Edonkey, Napster, WinMX, Aimster and Audiogalaxy. To ensure the
quality of service offered through Home Surf, all further file-sharing
applications that become available will similarly not be supported.

I have occasionally used the formentioned programs, and also connect to work
via a VPN on port 10000, does this mean I may be blocked???

i believe there's a package for another 3 quid a month or so, that
allows these things.

Any Peer2Peer sharing program is blocked, as is binary newsgroup access (and
not just to Plus' news servers). By blocked, this may be physically or just
morally..

As for VPN - we use a PPTP based VPN here, and a colleague with their £19
pcm ADSL package can use the VPN fine - and I don't believe I've seen
anything in the T's&C's about VPN connections being banned.

P2P and binary NG's are available on the dearer packages.

Hi, ive found plusnet great apart from the news service. Do you find that as
much as 30% of binaries get dropped?? I pay the extra for binaries but I
have yet been able to download any multi-part binary messages!?! Is yours
the same?

thanks.

PhilÅ reckoned that:
Go for £21.99 option, no such restrictions.

Though for many people, they don't use binary newsgroups, or P2P and would
value a £3 a month saving.
