I have used them for four years. There have been some glitches but overall
very good. The great thing is that you can actually get to talk to them or
communicate via a ticket system. They also put their stats and problems on
line warts and all.

Seconded.
No problems now, ever since BT bought them out and they they sacked their
previous MD.
Good value for money and excellent - almost masochistic! - customer service
people, based in Sheffield (not Bangalore!).
They own up to mistakes, outages, etc. and keep you informed as to what's
going on, via their own forums and their own customer service feedback
newsgroup.

the NTL now the Virgin crowd. Connection speed with Plusnet is stable at
around the 6.5Mbps where I was getting between the low hundreds of Kbps and
up to 5Mbps with Virgin. Customer relations service couldn't be better and I
wouldn't return to Virgin at any price

I reported a problem to them with BT resetting my SNR so that I got a
slower connection speed. It took them 2 weeks to acknowledge that I
had diagnosed the problem despite me regularly telling them what the
problem was. Over a month later the problem still has not been
resolved.
There email platform was also hacked due to Plusnet not having
configured it correctly resulting in customers getting a lot of spam,
with Plusnet anti spam platform proving to be totally in adequate.
Lastly, browsing speed is very slow in the evenings.
In my opinion Plusnet are a shadow of the company they used to be with
rubbish customer services and I will be leaving Plusnet as soon as it
is economical for me.

Getting target SNR changed on a line can be a bit a pain at the best of

'Not having configured it correctly' doesn't particularly tell the whole
story, the gory details of which can be found here if the OP is interested:

We've had a few gold packet drops in the evening of late but nothing
that should particularly have much of a detriment on browsing. We lit
some additional capacity 2 weeks ago too:

P2P, Usenet and the higher prority protocols are slowed in the evening:

Sorry to hear you feel that way. Let me know if you'd like me to look
into your fault in the meantime though.
I personally would say we're a lot better than we were a year or two ago

I used to be with plusnet, I found the connection reliable, speeds
decent and customer support was excellent when I needed it (3 times over
4 years). They post regularly on the popular support newsgroups.
I am now with Orange but that's because I work for them and as such get
a massive discount.

who were willing to come to Him. If any die on the
way, it is their misfortune; but, so far as He was concerned, He offered
them redemption. That holds good in this example, where he who ransoms and
he who prevents death are two persons, but not of Jesus Christ, who does
both these things. No, for Jesus Christ, in the quality of Redeemer, is not
perhaps Master of all; and thus, in so far as it is in Him, He is the
Redeemer of all.
When it is said that Jesus Christ did not die for all, you take undue
advantage of a fault in men who at once apply this exception to themselves;
and is to favour despair, instead of turning them from it to favour hope.
For men thus accustom themselves in inward virtues by outward customs.

it's pigging awful, which is when I left (bad investments made,
bad/insufficient support, some services were constantly breaking,
others were incorrectly affected by their filtering during peak

I first phoned them up when I was moving away from Diamond Cable) .
I have heard rumours that it has started to improve but I'm afraid
it's a suck it & see as far as I'm concerned

Plusnet appear to have a problem with slow browsing in the evening;

I would also say that I have never know Plusnet support to be so bad.
You appear to get more support on here (whether you are with Plusnet
or not) than you do if you post on Plusnet news groups. Couple with
support staff saying that they will contact you and never doing so.
Web portal stating that the average wait is 2 minutes and having to
wait over 10 minutes to speak to somebody, etc. etc.

I believe it's just a one or two gateways causing the problem (ptn-ag1
namely). We are aware of it though. Might just need a spot of gateway
balancing as we lit a new segment a week or two ago.
I'll take a look tomorrow.
? - I'm in p.s.customer-feedback almost every day!

As far as our testign is concerned and judging from the notes on your
account your SNR is now between 6.5-7.5. It's not going to get much
lower than this I don't think.
I've added some comments to your ticket anyway.
