I have very similar problem, about every 3 months the connection gets
unreliable and it happened again
in second half of October. After long and protracted negotiation with the
ISP they eventually reported that BT have done 'something' at the exchange.
The connection is now very steady, but stuck with min 15 dB SNR and thus
limited to 1 Mb/s, while it used to be 2 Mb/s. I have asked the ISP 3 times
to remove the SNR limit to no avail....argghhh !

I had a troublesome period for a while and Idnet simply got BT to reset their
equipment. Fixed it straight off.
