Presuming it works (it sometimes goes wrong, see my recently posted
survey message) then yes it "automatically" cancels your old account
(though it's worth makign sure any standing order, direct debit.,
etc., *is* cancelled, just to be safe) and should give you a "smooth"
change-over. If it goes according to plan, then as soon as the old
sevice stops working, you should be able to log in using the new
service.

There's a "setup fee" on migrates charged by BT to the ISP so expect
the ISP to charge you one - if they don't, then, as with the
new-service setup fee, that's an effective discount from the ISP, and
will probably come with a longer minimum contract term than otherwise.
