Hey, real unix, there's a world I've never even dipped a finger into.
What machines? (I know zilch, beyond that there's no reason they'd be
PCs)

I'll be waiting a while, maybe when Linux doesn't seem quite so alien
I'd like a look.

I've got two SGI computers running IRIX, but they're getting very old
and creaky now. Most of the real computing here has moved onto laptops
running Mandrake Linux. I used Unix as a generic term covering Linux as
well as original Unix, but I probably shouldn't.

Thanks.

I believe there are distinct differences (Lin<->Uni) and its those
differences that make me curious.

Unfortunately out of my finger dipping exercises Mandrake was the
implementation I like least, it stank of windows setup, to the extent
that I found it quite difficult to run it without the GUI, and very
awkward to configure in any way other than the default. That said, I'm
very much an ignoramus and prefer the step by step slowly-slowly text
based approach of something like Slackware.
