- Routers & file transfer rates

Do modem routers tell you what your transfer rate is when you are
downloading a file for example, i know that obviously the web
browsers do, but what about routers? just out of interest.

Depends on the router in quesiton.
Most will have some functionality, more so if they have SNMP.
