- Virgin.net ADSL grumble: any clues?

Dear All
A relative novice here - I've scanned through the newsgroup to look for
similar troubles, but I can't seem to find the same problem that I have.
In the last 2-3 weeks, I've noticed how my 512kb ADSL virgin.net connection
varies between good (the standard 55-60K/s) to pitiful (virtually nothing,
much slower than dial-up), every 10 minutes or so.
Virgin seem to think that it's all part of the current virus trouble, and it
should be fixed now but the troubles go on.
Any tips?

I was having disconnection problems for about a month, but that was
fixed just about a week ago.
I had 8 different IP addresses in one week - more dynamic than I was
expecting.
Now it's not changed in a week.

Ge a refund, I did and am now with nildram that works fine.... well at about
480kbps on the adsl speedtest (Virgin.net was under 50kb)
Virgin.net are owned and ran by NTL who suck, need I say more.
The guy on the phone said it was because they didn't have enough bandwidth
between them and BT.... Hmmm I doubt that somehow.
