12V instead of 15V
Posted by VK on July 4th, 2003

Hi,
I just learned that my laptop needs 15V power supply, rather than 12V. Is it
worth to power it from 12V (car cigarette lighter) anyway and whether there
is any risk for the laptop?
Regards, VK

Your laptop may or may not run on 12V. But the transients in
an auto are horrendous. You risk blowing up your computer.

Suggest you use a 12V to 120VAC converter and the AC supply
that came with your computer.
