Owned an 803Lci for 2 months. Tried to run extended desktop. Got a 5
week run around trying different settings and CRT monitors, including
an Acer V771! The local Acer tech manager came on site. Suggested
maybe needed OEM monitor drivers or that monitors were 800x600 max
res. So yesterday I purchased a Samsung Syncmaster 955DF.
Problem not solved. Today Acer support advised they would need my
notebook to try and replicate the problem (their manager must have
been blind when he was out.)

Am I being dicked around? Has anyone had this problem solved? If so
How?
Should I be simply returning the device for refund. I'm stuffed if
I'm going to spend >$US4000 for a notebook I cannot use. Surely there
are some great high end notebooks around that do not do this?

Apparently, it's an issue with all the Acer 8xx series Centrino notebooks
and external monitors. See the UK forum

and do a search with Acer external monitor as the parameters and you will
find some threads about this. Don't know if a resolution has been found.
