Hi,
I have a compaq laptop. Recently, I purchased 1GB kingston value RAM
to upgrade my existing RAM. I have done some research online and
instead of opening my laptop and checking out the kind of RAM it had,
I had gone to corsair.com and gave my model no. to find out the RAM i
need to use. According to the website, I had to use pc-4200 sodimm 200
pin RAM. I followed the specifications and bought the RAM from buy.com
for cheap. So today, I wanted to install it and I noticed that instead
of 1x1GB ram in the slot, there were 2x512MB. Also, the specifications
are different from those mentioned on corsair.com. It was pc-5300
sodimm 200 pin. So, now my question is, should I go ahead and install
the ram by removing one 512MB? I heard that the frequency of both the
rams should match or should I buy another 1GB ram of the same kind and
install them as a pair? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
