- Alienware laptop?
- Posted by Rowlf on September 24th, 2003
Anybody know how good the Alienware Area 51m laptops are? I read a lot of
bad press about them, how they run VERY hot and the fan runs all the time,
making it noisy. I don't mind bulk, I want something sturdy (not plasticy
like the Dells) and something fast enough to run Half-Life 2 (i.e. it needs
to have a 128mb vid. card).
Also, are centrino processors good for gaming?

It would make more sense for you to get a Sager. Something like Sager
ProStar 5614 would be good.
Sager makes the Alienware laptops.
Get it directly and you'll save a lot.
Thanks.

I agree the Prostar 5614 is a better choice, cheaper and is has the better
video card. You take a look at the prostar at www.americantechpushers.com

Thanks for all the info, I'll check into those, but if these are such good
laptops, why don't they have the prestige that AW has, or even voodoo? How
come they don't get reviewed?
Also, does anybody have any actual experience with AW or any ofthese other
laptops?
Also, what about the P4 centrino vs. regular P4 for power.

Answer: Yes! I ha ve a Sager 5670. Very good rep. I'll bet it's
prestige is as good or better than Alienware. Check these forums for

Clevo makes all of the laptops mentioned. Sager sells them at better
prices.
Go P4 for games, IMO.

@yawho.com says...
If you are going with a Sager you may want to look at pctorque.com and
powernootbooks.com as well. Powernotebooks.com had a better deal when I
bought my 5680.
