- battery is not charching
- Posted by Jaro on April 16th, 2008
I've got a problem with charging battery i my HP nc8000 laptop.
Recently i had to exchange motherboard, because of burnt graphic card,
and since then, charging doesn't work. Besides, the battery is working
normally.
Do you have any idea what can be reason of that problem and how to
solve it?

How do you know the battery is working normally? Anyway, my guess is that
you either got a defective refurb motherboard as a replacement (OEM's often
use refurb parts for replacements), or something did not get reconnected
properly when the board was swapped out in the machine. Did you replace the
motherboard yourself? If you did, I'd double-check all the connections to
the board. If the problem persists, I'd call HP in either case.

I had motherboard changed in a service. It's possible that they
connected something inproperly. because, for instance, multibay LED is
on, but there's no device in that port.

I couldn't agree with G. Wilkers and Richard more! If you bought
something at the store and it didn't work - you'd probably take
it back. In this case, they [supposedly] fixed your laptop. Low
and behold, they probably installed defective hardware ( it does
happen ). You're now entitled to have them fix it under their
warranty repair for that last repair they attempted IF it hasn't
been too long ago. I'd give them a call and discuss the issue;
certainly explaining that their "fix" wasn't really a fix after
all. HP is a up and up company, they'll resolve the issue.
Cheers,

Wouldn't THAT be something if that Richard above was from the duo
fame. However, IF that was the case, I suspect that he would just
sign R.C. ;-)
