Whoa wait! Get "Driver Genius Professional Edition" before you wipe
anything out. This will pluck the drivers from your current working OS.
And you can get it free for a limited time from:

http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/downloa.../driver-genius

And all of the talk about downgrading a license. Well I don't know about
Windows Vista, but it was perfectly legal (from Microsoft's standpoint)
to purchase a Windows XP license and downgrade down to Windows 3.1 if
you wanted. And you are perfectly legal as far as MS is concern. As long
as you use that XP license for for an older Windows OS. And MS has no
problems if you beg, copy, or steal that older copy. And the
registration key. As your legal license for Windows XP covers you to do
that.

Maybe you need to provide it with SATA device drivers, loaded during the
start of XP setup (there is a prompt for this on the screen) from a floppy
drive before your drive can be recognized.
