- Dell 600m performace hit when performing graphics-clock speed drop
- Posted by jaredh on February 2nd, 2005
Hi there,
I'm finding that when used for graphically intensive programs for a
period of more than about 20-30 minutes the clock speed drops right
down from 1.8 GHz down to aprox 533MHz. I think this is happening
because the processor thinks that its overheating.
However when browsing the web for hours at a time the puter seems to
get just as hot yet does not drop the clock speed.
Is it possible to prevent this drop in clock speed and also what is
the impact of doing this? Will it possibly over heat the puter?
Thanks in advance
