- Dell latitude d610, system recovery?
- Posted by angelsbridge on February 12th, 2006
I have a ibm thinkpad that has a full system restore option, it's on the
laptop itself, not added. I just recently bought a 6 month old dell
latitude d610 which is used but in a1 shape.. I noticed it doesn't show
a system restore' option when starting up, like on the ibm. so where
would this option be found on this dell? or do some laptops have this
feature and some don't? Would this be the same thing as just adding
ghost or some other backup program? Thank you,
Y.D.

My used C610 running Win2KPro camr with a restore disc which is a Ghost
image of the HD. It was furnished by the Co. I bought the refurbished laptop
from (not Dell)

It has xp-pro on it, I found the area where it can restore the system
to a earlier date- which is probably the option I was talking about,
it's just set up easier on the ibm laptop I have, right as it starts up.

My D610 didn't come with a system restore partition, but I don't want
something like that taking up space on my hard drive, nor is
"resetting to factory install" useful to me, so I didn't miss it.
Get the WinXP CD from Dell and you'll be able to rebuild it on demand
(though the process will be somewhat painful, as it will be with the
system restore partition.)

My D610 also didn't have a restore partition, it came with a XP Pro sp2
disk and a drivers disk.
