- Diablo II on a laptop (3)
- Posted by Hans Kamp on August 7th, 2003
As you know I bought a laptop and the last few days I often use him to
play Diablo II on it. It still works great.
Especially at this moment. The last few days my country (the
Netherlands) has been confronted with very hot weather (between 31 and
36 degrees Celcius, 88 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit if that is correct).
The problem of my normal PC is that it produces a lot of heat when I
am playing (and it is already pretty warm in my living-room: 27
degrees Celcius, 81 degrees Fahrenheit). That is very tedious.
The laptop gives me a real solution, because this seems to produce
less heat, although the heat that I feel.
The game itself functions pretty wel, but the patch 1.10b less often
freezes on my laptop than my normal PC (probably due to the fact that
my normal PC has 256 MB of RAM, and my laptop 512 MB of RAM). So an
advice to others (that complain about freezing) could be: Put more RAM
in your computer, that will decrease the frequency of freezing. The
bugs I experience on my desktop PC, I also see on my laptop.

nights either around that or down as low as 50f. So I sympathize with
you.
Anyway. I think your problem is 1.10b. I have D2 on my P3-650/256mb
laptop and have never had it lock up. But, I don't have 1.10b
installed. From what I've heard, many people are having problems with
it that they didn't have before it.
But, more RAM is always a good idea.

Columbus is FAR too close to Akron
I was in Oklahoma City once when it was 88 degrees at 11am (I was golfing at
the time), and by 4pm it was snowing like hell

heh-more Ohioans-cool! I live up in Lorain on the lake-we only wait 15
minutes for it to change ;c}
And I agree with the drivers, one or two drops of rain and everyone goes
into a panic and ABRUPTLY drops 10-20 mph. Then they wonder why there's
so many accidents when it rains...

Oh yes... but for fickle weather, nothing compares to New York, especially
on or around Long Island.

Yeah well during mayfly season I saw many accidents from people sliding
through 3+ inches of bug carcasses on the roads. And that SMELL.......gah!!
Sour Milk and dead fish.......
Don't feel so bad. California drivers just HAVE to look when there's
something as minor as a flat tire. Don't EVEN get me started on their (lack
of) skill in wet weather.
(Originally from Mississippi where 4 inches of rain would fall within 30
minutes)

I did my Air Force time and have tried to get a job at WPAFB lately. I don't
have the xp. for Newark Air Station.

I know Mickey should agree Michigan drivers SUXOR. See I've lived in Florida
alot and well my grandparents and mom are there and really hate Michigan,
New York, and Ontario (or just canadian) drivers. I'm not too fond of jersey
drivers but if you go on their roads you'll understand. And Ohio does get
earthquakes. They just rarely go over a 2 and some are from other states.

Awesome CPU though. It out-performs Pentium 4s running at double the clock
speed for certain programs. There has been a lot of talk about it in
alt.sci.seti, It churns out Seti@home work-units at a phenomenal rate. It's
the only way I'd go if I were to be in the market for a laptop. And I'm a
dyed-in-the-wool AMD enthusiast.

Florida is a "flow of traffic" state. Just cause its a 25 zone doesn't mean
you should go that slow if everybody on the road goes 40. Now you know when
little old lady who's head is barely above the wheel is in the right turn
lane with appropriate signal on 41 and decides she wants to go left and
decides to cross three lanes as the light turns green .. CRUNCH. heighth -
barely able to ride a coaster let alone drive.

earthquakes, but I and most people say we don't because we don't usually
feel them.
Due to the bedrock layers and density of our upper layers, it take a
magnitude greater than 3 for us to even feel it. Many people don't
realize that magnitude is not directly relative to "Sense of Feel".
