- Disassemble a IBM thinkpad A20m for new processor?
- Posted by darin Ginther on December 10th, 2003
I've got an A20m processor with a 600 mhz celeron. I've got a laptop
P3-700 that I've purchased that is supported by the motherboard.
Only problem.. I have no idea how to install the darn thing...
I've done lots of towers, but no laptops.. Can anyone give details or
diagrams? I've dug on the internet...

It will still come up as a 600 Celeron - your system does not have
speedstep, so it will not be able to utilize the full speed of that
CPU

I upgraded my PIII-700 to a 1GHz with no problems.

It won't, Bruce is correct. Your motherboard isn't SpeedStep enabled.
