Docking Station/Port Replicators?
Posted by Gary Carson on June 25th, 2003

I've got several mobile users with a mix of Armada M700 and EVO N600c
laptops.
They're currently using Convenience Base EM docking stations. I'm not
sure what was going on at the factory when these things were produced,
but I've got four or five of them sitting around in my office--out of
warranty with dead network cards. The Convenience Base NIC's are
extremely unreliable. I once had to send a brand new docking station
back to Compaq TWICE for replacement before I got one with a working
NIC. At any rate, I need to start replacing them and I was hoping
someone could recommend an inexpensive (if possible) and RELIABLE
docking station or port replicator w/NIC to use in the future. I'd
consider a different COMPAQ model--I've had pretty good luck with
their servers and workstations and their support's been decent
overall. Thanks in advance...
