- DVD-ROM and CD-R/CD-RW Compatibility
- Posted by Rex Rodrigues on July 23rd, 2003
Hi,
I've a basic question.
Does the DVD-ROM drives coming with laptops read
CD-R/Audio CD/CD-RW/Softwares on CD/MP3 CDs ?
The issue is, if I buy a laptop which has only a DVD-ROM,
will I be able to install software from CD, play my audio
and video CDs and listen to my MP3 CDs?
Looks very basic, but I'm confused.
Regards
Rex

Yes, all DVD drives also read CDs, which is supposed to include CD-R's
and CD-RW's. I've never had any problems with CD-R, but I have found
that some CD-RW media cannot be read in all drives. Factory pressed CDs
should not be a problem.
