- Floppy not recognized under windows 98
- Posted by zztop8970 on August 1st, 2003
I just installed Windows 98 on an IBM Thinkpad 600.
The laptop used to have NT on it, but I erased that as part of the new
installation.
Anyway, everything appears to work fine - except that the (external) Floppy
drive is not recognized under Win98. If I start in DOS mode, it works fine.
The system settings (Control Panel/System Properties/Device Manager) appear
to indicate that the device is working properly, using the Standard Floppy
Disk Controller - but when I try to access the drive from Windows -
everything hangs.
Any clues will be appreciated.

Is the BIOS setting for Plug and Play OS disabled? If so, change the
setting and see if that might help.
