- Gateway Solo 9150 - Floppy Problem!
- Posted by Danielle on June 23rd, 2003
Hi People
I've got a Gateway Solo 9150 and my Floppy drive (LS-120 drive) keeps
tell me that the disk is not formatted? I've tried several disks and
keep getting the same error. Just for fun I allowed it to reformat a
blank disk after it was done I couldn't use the disk in my other
computer? Any ideas on how to fix it? I'm using Windows XP.
Thanks,
Danielle

This is a common problem with older floppy drives in moving to XP from
another OS. The prevailing opinion is that it will not work and should
be replaced. You might find one on eBay. If you can find a floppy
cleaner, that might clean the head. If you need a floppy and don't need
to boot from the floppy, a USB drive can be had for $40-50 and requires
no installation in XP.
