- Getting a Laptop from Europe to the US
- Posted by Matt on July 7th, 2005
I want to get after an Acer Aspire 1525WLMi which is only sold in
Switzerland. It has an AMD Mobile Athlon 64 3700+ and a 100 Gig hard
drive. Anyone have an suggestions on how to do this?

Try buying it online. Have them ship to the US. (Never had issues when
buying from England.) You have to pay the shipping but I don't believe
there are any constraints on bringing computer equipment into the US.

Warranty is probably the most important part of a laptop purchase, so I'd
think twice about buying anything that won't be serviced where you live.
BTW Compaq has laptops with Turion 64 or Athlon 64 chips (but not Mobile
Athlon 64).

If you don't have any success getting that laptop from Switzerland, consider
the Dell Inspirons. I've got the 700m and it's a great little computer.
