- HD swap between HP product numbers?

My HP laptop met a cup of coffee it didn't like and quit. I've
removed its (good) hard drive and have it hanging in a desktop PC.
What sort of problems might I face if I get another laptop of the same
model (nx9010; it's about 4 yrs old), virtually identical specs, but
different product number and replace that hard drive with my rescued
one?

Probably not any.
Will the installation of Windows on that disk work fine with the new
machine? Maybe, maybe not depending on just what specs may be different.
Best case, runs from the git go. Worst case, try a repair install of
Windows to add/change whatever hardware drivers might be different.
Since you've got the drive attached to another PC, back up all worthwhile
data first.
This is probably a good excuse to put a clean install of Windows and your
apps on to the drive, anyway.
