I have a Gateway Solo 5300 that I bought used with no hard drive or CD. I
installed a 40 gig Toshiba HD and replacement CD drive but cannot get the
laptop to recognize the CD and have no other way of loading an operating
system on it. The HD is recognized in bios OK. Any suggestions? The CD is a
Samsung Model: SN-124 which is the correct replacement and fits the caddy
OK, plugs in and powers up and searches the CD but I can't get access to it
or boot from it. Also it won't boot from an external USB CD drive. Is there
something in the bios that is messing things up or what?
