Help With Processors Please
Posted by jim evans on November 18th, 2007

I'm looking at the Dell VOSTRO 1500 laptop. The default processor is
an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5270. It costs $75 (or 15% of the price of the
computer) to upgrade to an Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470. I don't
understand these processors and thus don't understand the value to me
of such an upgrade.

Can anyone here expain what I get for the $75??

Does it double the speed? 50% increase in speed? 25%?

Thanks

According to
http://www.intel.com/products/proces...t/core2duo.htm it
would be an upgrade from 1.4 GHz to 1.6 GHz. No more than a 10%
increase, I'd say.

Thanks a lot.

I found a chart like that earlier, but it didn't have one or the other
of the processors on it. It's strange a processor with only a 10%
higher speed would be selling for that much more, but it's exactly
what I was afraid of and why I posted. Who in the world would
knowingly pay $75 for an undetectable speed increase?
