Clamp the cdrom in a woodworking vice. Then attach an elephant to the
toshiba by its trunk, and apply the elephant goad.

That should remove your Toshiba and leave the cdrom.

That is what you said you wanted?

Is it a removable drive, in some kind of swappable bay? If not, it's
probably going to require some small tools and delicate work, and the
replacement may need some faceplate changes or other mods to fit.

In general, remove all the screws from the bottom of the laptop,
remove the keyboard, then the top of the base, then the rest should be
fairly obvious. Sorry, no experience with that particular model, if
you can't find a service manual on the Toshiba WWWebsite you might
have to learn as you go. Worst case you can pick up a 'like new' one
on eBay to either practice on or swap the hard drive into, then sell
(the remains of) yours back to eBay...

You need to find a service manual. Disassembling a laptop without the
instructions is risky, especially for someone who does not have training
and experience as a laptop technician.
