HP Omnibook Xe2 LCD Screen half out
Posted by Gary Seven on August 6th, 2003

I bought my mother a secondhand HP Ombibook Xe2 last year. Big
mistake. After a few weeks the left side of the screen is out. If I
squeze the bottom part of the screen it might come on, but after a
while that stopped doing the trick. Is there anything I can do to fix
that?

Would you happen to know of any websites with pictures of a screen
being replaced?

No, I don't, but how old is this particular computer? If you try the HP live
support, they might be able to talk you through it.

Its an original Xe2. HP tech support won't touch me without charging
me out the arse. For two reasons, I didn';t get it originally from
them, and Its a Pentium 2 600... so its old. My mom up until last
year was using a Gateway 2000 Pentium 100, and needed something better
immediately if not sooner. So I bought her that for about $300.
Anyway, now I have the screen issue. I was hoping it would hold her
over until I could find something better, either a brand new Gateway
or an Open box buy at the store. I don't know. The screen is 13.25"
and I can't find anything that size. Looks like she'll have to live
with it for now.

warranty HP's too.
