- Inspiron 5000 hard drive problem + replacement advice
- Posted by Ming on October 13th, 2003
Hi there,
My I5000 laptop hard drive has been periodically making loud clicking
sounds. I have backed most of it up using an external CD writer, as
I've been told that my HDD will die any moment. My 1st quesiton: What
causes those sounds actually?
Secondly, can anyone advise me as to which HDD models I should be
looking out for (in the UK), in terms of value for money, speed etc?
Also, are there any specs I should look out for, besides eg 2.5" and
9.5mm? I am looking for 30-40GB storage - is there a size limit that
the I5000 can take?
Thirdly, it would be great if anyone could give me some useful tips
that I might need when actually getting down to replacing the HDD.
Thanks alot folks.
Ming
