keyboard "right arrow" key problem
Posted by fear!?# on April 5th, 2007

hi all, i have a dell d600 notebook, sometimes (in recent usually) the
right arrow key doesn't work properly, when i hit the right arrow key,
it works as down key, also down key works as down too... in notepad
when i tried to go right in a text, the pointer goes down or in
i.explorer when i hit the right arrow key the page scroll down like i
hit to down key.

please advice me what the problem could be? thanks in advance...

Sounds like a dirty keyboard where there is just enough contamination to
cause the right arrow and down arrow to be cross-connected
electrically. You probably need a new keyboard; they are not very
expensive.

I saw today that additionaly to "right arrow", "space bar" works as
"down arrow" too, is that a problem with the keyboard or can it be
related with mainboard???

You must test for that behaviour in different applications, and in
different areas of a text.

In Notepad, and other text editors, if your cursor is at the end of a
row, it is perfectly normal for the cursor to move on to the next row.

In a web-browser the space-bar is supposed to scroll the page
downwards. It is a very useful feature for those of us don't use the
mouse unless necessary.
