Laptop books - ???
Posted by Steve on August 1st, 2003

Any idea why there are so few books (almost none, it appears) on
laptops? With laptops outselling desktops, seems like there's plenty
of room for books discussing power management, travel tips, etc, etc.
Not sure, but I don't think there's even a Dummies book on laptops.

What websites would you recommend for laptop basics?

Thanks!

cuz dummies don't own laptops ..?
:-)

Seriously...Such books would be really thin because what is there to talk about?
After all, laptops are not nearly as upgradeable as desktops and their operation is
fairly straightforward. Laptop power management is settable via operating system and
books on Windoze or your operating system of choice cover the subject pretty well.
And travel tips? What travel tips..? Don't drop it would be a good advice...

seriously, some of the best info I've seen is in watching this group for
about a month. During the course of a month, just about every possible
discussion point will come up, with at least 3 different opinions.

The only one that's not outta print is the Upgrading book, which
hasn't yet been published. The rest don't have much to do with
