- Laptop slowing down while not being used for some time
- Posted by Doc on September 28th, 2003
Recently I wanted to use my (old) laptop for internetting. It's a Dell
Inspiron 7000, P-II 266Mhz, 64Mb RAM. I formatted the HDD, installed
Win98SE and the following programs: MS Office 2000, Copernic Agent,
WinZip. No problems so far. The Laptop is connected by a 54Mbs
wireless network connection to an ADSL modem/ router/ switch.
Everything works fine. But when I don't use my Laptop for a few hours
(2 or so) it is going very slowly. The only real thing that helps is
rebooting it with the power button.
I already flashed the BIOS, I put off the energy saving stuff in the
BIOS and also in Win98. But the problem is still there.
Does anyone know other things I should check or can do to resolve this
problem?
Thanks,
Marco
