I'm a bit confused about the Lenovo's:

Is this the IBM Thinkpad?? Is this an IBM product? I would think that
"thinkpad" would be a copyrighted term...very confusing...????????

IBM doesn't make PCs any more. The laptop branding was sold to Lenovo.

IBM sold their PC business to Lenovo. IIRC Lenovo doesn't own the rights to
the "Thinkpad" brand name but they are licensed to use it for something
like 5 years.

Incorrect. Lenovo DOES own the "Thinkpad" name (forever), it came with
the acquisiton, but they don't own the "IBM" name although they are
allowed to use it for a few years. In fact, I have just started seeing
ads for "Lenovo Thinkpads", which were previously "IBM Thinkpads".

lenovo can use name of IBM TP for five years.
Think pads have the same quality as they had before lenovo!
But lenovo makes own laptops so if you want to purchase Ibm/lenovo you
need to purchase ThinkPad!

Yes, they can use the "IBM Thinkpad" name for 5 years. They can use the
"Lenovo Thinkpad" name forever.
