LoJack for Laptops

Is anyone considering the lojack for their laptop? I keep a really close
eye on my laptop at all times. I have never walked away from my computer
bag .. but you never know. When I first bought my libretto, I told the guy
at COMPUSA I was traveling the next day to NYC and he tried to talk me into
the lojack thing. But I didn't buy it .. I don't remember the cost .. but
it still felt like a waste of money.

Hi Diane

Like most insurance deals they are gambling you will not lose/break
whatever the object is. If you are normally a very careful
person then the chances of you losing/leaving the computer would be slim
and the payments would be a waste. Believe me they definitely do it for
a profit and normally that is what they get.

Lee who never buys product insurance of any kind.

I think that 2 years of accidental breakage insurance is about $300 .. I
would maybe be tempted to step on my computer at the end of the two years
because by 3 years, what would you get for the laptop but a few hundred
bucks.
On the other hand. If you had your computer for a month and stepped on it
like I did .. the accidental breakage is a blessing.

I believe Platinum credit cards provide accidental breakage coverage for a
couple of months as well as doubling the manufacturer's warranty up to an
extra year. Of course you have to buy the item with the credit card and keep
a copy of the credit card receipt and the statement where the charge show
up.
