- Mounting external HD to laptop....??
- Posted by randall.shimizu@gmail.com on February 20th, 2007
I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on how to secure a
external USB HD to a laptop. Perhaps there is some sort of portable
docking station. Or heres a wild thought, use a big piece of velcro
and glue it to the laptop.

One reason is that I like to travel with my laptop. This why Velcro
seems like a good option. The hard part might be replacing the Velcro
when it wears out. So one would would use a softer glue like 3M Fast
Tack. On the other hand your laptop will probably in dark ages by this
time

You're looking at a potential heartbreaker if your externally mounted HD
winds up making pressure marks on the display if mounted on the top of the
unit or broken traces on the MB if mounted on the bottom.
I would classify this as a "bad idea"!
