hello,
have an IBM thinkpad and connected a dvd drive (for burning) via the
usb port. seemed to work ok. then, i shut down computer. when turned
back on, seemed to start ok but very quickly screen went blank. can't
turn off. don't know what to do to get it to turn off? and, what are
correct shut down procedures for when I have dvd drive connected? (I
must not have done something right)

Hold the power button down for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, remove
the battery and unplug the power cable.

thx! have tried holding button for 5 sec. (read that somewhere) but
didn't work. will try the battery removal tonite.
