- Notebook Online-Offline developer issues
- Posted by Dave on September 5th, 2003
First, is this the right place at all to post this question?
I'm a web developer so I still need to be able to write code when not
connected to a network. Using WinXP pro, IIS 6, IE 6, Visual Studio
6. Network config is Client for Microsoft Networks and TCP/IP which
works fine when connected.
The trouble I'm seeing is when I use my browser to view pages when I'm
disconnected. First, it seems I have to continually click "Connect or
Stay offline" which bugs me. Then when I plug the network cable back
in the next time I'm in the office, it won't just make a connection -
I have to disable/re-enable the network bridge in the notebook.
Nothing else makes it connect but it always connects right away after
that.
What can I do to tame the network connection beast? I need IIS/IE to
run *like normal* when I'm disconnected.
Thanks,
Dave Lewis

Have you tried installing the Microsoft Loopback Adapter as a hardware
device? See the following link
http://support.microsoft.com/default...microsoft.com:
80/support/kb/articles/Q236/8/69.ASP&NoWebContent=1
Can then set up the loopback adapter's network properties to emulate your
network connections when disconnected.
