Notebook Password Error?
Posted by Echy on November 1st, 2005

Hello

I have a laptop (HP Compaq nx9010) running XP Pro (Service Pack 1 from
memory) that I cannot log into.

The two users & administrator passwords are "correct " according to an
online Login Recovery Service I used to reveal them. However I cannot
login with any of them. I get an error message "The local Policy of this
system does not permit you to login interactively" Pressing OK takes me
back to the password entry page.

The passwords previously worked fine.

Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on solving this problem.

Thanks in advance.

configuration? Or pressing F8 during boot-up and selecting "Last working
configuration" (or equivalent, I forget the exact wording).

Remembered how to start it. After starting from the original CD I got to
C:\Windows and was asked for administrator password which I entered. The
C:\windows came up again but no further instructions. Could you help me
from there?

Thanks again.

on your system, my help is specific to Sony. See below.

"To access the System Restore Wizard, click Start, and then click Help
and Support. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Using System Restore".
