My daughter has an old HP
Pavillion and I was trying to upgrade her OS and yesterday I reset
the BIOS to defaults and then started installing and now the screen
will come on for about 5 seconds then blank out completely (I think
it's just the back-light as I can still barely see stuff on the
screen and can see the mouse pointer move if I tilt the screen a
bit).

There is a small button behind the keyboard in the case which gets
depressed when the lid closes and if I press this button and let it
up, the screen lights back up for about 5 seconds and then blanks out
again.

Any ideas what this might be or what might of happened????
