Hi all,
I have a Toshiba 1410-604 laptop with an internal Toshiba modem
running Windows XP service pack 1 (fresh install, nothing else on it).
The laptop also has a Yamaha AC-XG sound card, if this helps.
When I try to dial out I can't hear the modem dialing, so I can't
actually be sure it IS dialing. (I got it to dial my mobile phone,
which did not ring so I assume I will need to investigate this
further).
In order to investigate why its not dialling, I want to be able to
hear the sound it makes so I can hear the pick up. I've tried:
* Changing the properties of the modem to have LOUD sound
* Upping all the volume controls
* Going into Hyperterminal and manually typing the ADM3 (loud volume)
commands (and all other related AD commands listed in the manual) and
then trying to dial from there
All other sound on the laptop (mp3s, dvds etc) works fine and the
Toshiba Technical Support website is no help at all.
Any thoughts would be so appreciated. Maybe the modem doesn't have
sound at all? Are there any known issues with Toshiba Laptops with
built in Toshiba modems?
Thanks
