I violated one of the cardinal rules of computer care and had a glass
of water next to my laptop. A bit of it spilled into the keyboard
section, but I quickly cleaned it up and fortunately all the keys
seemed to be working perfectly. Afetr about 2 minutes though I began
to hear a sizzling sound, and realized that some water had gotten into
the A/C charger/adapter jack, with the charger plugged into the
computer and the wall outlet. I quickly removed the charger, turned
off the computer, and took out the battery, and then proceeded to
gently tilt the computer sideways. No water ran out, and from what I
could see there was only a few drops in the jack. The computer was
working fine without the charger, from what I could see before I turned
it off, but I'm super squemish about long-term damage. How long should
I wait to try turning in on again? Should I try starting it up running
on the battery, and the cautiously trying the adapter? This just
hasn't been a good year for computers with me :-(
