I emailed a HP rep, and he informed me that nx7000 and the x1001us are
EXACTLY the same aside from cosmetics. No difference in any of the
hardware components. The only difference is that the nx7000 comes with
Win XP Pro, and the x1001us with Win XP Home. But you can order the
x1001us with Win XP Pro.

Not yet. I'm waiting to see if other makers come out with similar
units. Or other options that are on the horizon are added (ie 128 meg
videoram, 1.7mHz, etc). From my exploration so far the Compaq x1000us
is the best. Much smaller than the Dell D800,more options than the HP
nx7000, more powerful than the Gateway 500. I currently have a
widescreen eMachines M5305. Very nice machine if you don't mind the
non-Centrino AMD processor.
